I went to high school, college, and worked with lots of music and theater types, most of whom became dutiful liberals.
We all loved this song, Nothing from A Chorus Line in which dancer/actress Morales is mocked by her teacher and classmates for telling the truth for herself, not for anyone else.
She was the hero of the piece because she was gutsy, honest, and stood alone against a fantasy/collective mindset.
Now, almost all of those theater types have turned into her drama teacher and the class who mocked her. They aren’t even aware how easily they were bamboozled or became the bigots they pretend to rail against.
